Eleanor James is a young hammered dulcimer player from near Swindon, who has now been playing mainly traditional style music from Cornwall, Ireland and France, for over nine years.

She has received tutoring from the two of the leading hammered dulcimer players on the UK folk scene, Kerensa Newman and Maclaine Colston. Maclaine has recently played with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Albert Hall and is shown in the photo below, 'testing' Eleanor's newly acquired hammered dulcimer. This one was made by Roger Frood of Dove Dulcimers whose workshops are near Glastonbury.

Eleanor has played at a number of folk venues including Swindon and Truro Folk Clubs, as well as the Cornwall and Priddy Folk Festivals, and can often can be heard at her local pub - the Red Lion at Castle Eaton in Wiltshire - on a summer's evening at a weekend. Participation at weddings, garden parties and formal functions are also becoming a regular occurrence.

In 2002, Eleanor won the Cornwall Young Folk Performers competition.
